The White House informed that the number of IT employees with H-1B visa has increased considerably. In 2003, this share was 32%, which has increased to more than 65% in recent years.
According to the report, the unemployment rate of computer science graduates in the US has reached 6.1% and computer engineering graduates to 7.5%. It is doubled at the unemployment rate of graduates of subjects like biology or art history. Between 2000 and 2019, the number of foreign stem (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) in the US increased to more than doubled, while the total stem jobs increased by only 44.5%.
The White House also gave an example of some companies. A company received approval from 5,189 H-1B employees in FY 2025, but ended the jobs of about 16,000 US employees. The second company received 1,698 H-1B approved, yet it trimmed 2,400 US employees in Oregon. The third company has reduced the number of US employees since 2022, while it received 25,075 H-1B approved. Another company reduced 1,000 US jobs in February even after taking 1,137 H-1B approval.
The White House says that the decision to impose a fee of $ 1 million on the H-1B visa is a step towards giving priority to American employees and bringing back their jobs.
The factories said, ‘Voters have given the mandate to President Trump to give priority to American workers. They are working to fulfill this promise every day. He has also made new trade agreements for bringing back manufacturing jobs and new investment in the US.
The report also said that after Trump came to power again, all the employment benefits were available to the workers of American origin, while during the tenure of President Biden, the same benefit was mostly given to the workers of foreign origin.
