Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, a permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, said on Wednesday that terrorist organizations such as Islamic State-Khorasan (ISIL-K), Al-Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, East Turkistan Islamic Movement, BLA and Majeed Brigade are operating from Afghan bases.

According to the US State Department, in 2024, the BLA claimed responsibility for suicide attacks near Karachi Airport and Gwadar Ship Authority campus. In 2025, he also took the responsibility of hijacking the Jafar Express train, which was going from Quetta to Peshawar. 31 civilians and security personnel were killed in the incident and more than 300 passengers were taken hostage.
