About 50 soldiers were killed in an attack by an armed group at a military base in the northern region of the West African country of Burkina Faso. A community leader and a local resident gave this information on Tuesday.

According to the community leader, the attack was carried out on Monday at the military base in Dargo in Bulsa province in the northern region of the West African country. It is suspected that the extremist group ‘Jamaat Nasar al-Islam Val-Muslimin’ (JNIM) has carried out the attack.

The community leader and local resident told the news agency ‘Associated Press’ on the condition of keeping their identity confidential that about 100 extremists were involved in the attack. After killing the soldiers, he set fire to the military base and looted there.
