Japan canceled US tour before PM Modi’s visit, conversation was to be held on trade deal

Japan’s business -conversation Ryosei Akajawa canceled his US tour on Thursday (August 28, 2025). The move, taken by Akajawa, poses a danger of delay in finalizing the $ 550 billion investment package to the US by Japan, which was proposed to reduce the US tariff lead.

Negotiator Ryosei Akajawa was scheduled to visit the US on Thursday, where he was about to formally announce the share sharing of profit between the two countries, such as a $ 550 billion package and its financial statements. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik also informed Japan’s announcement of an investment of $ 550 billion this week. At the same time, this tour has been canceled ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Japan.

Why the US tour canceled?

According to a report by Reuters, Japanese government spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi said that some issues are still needed during the talks with the US, due to which the yatra has been canceled. In fact, there was an agreement between the US and Japan that the US would reduce the duty on some imports of Tokyo from 25 percent to 15 percent, in return Japan would invest in America.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump claimed that this package is our money for investment, as we want. He said that America will keep 90 percent of the profit. Japanese officials opposed the US decision and said that this investment would be subject to mutual profit.

Auto parts should be reduced

Japanese spokesperson Hayashi has appealed to the US to change the order of the President. He said that we demand the clown that the President’s order should be changed as soon as possible to remove the double fee on Japanese goods and reduce the fee on auto parts.

Japanese officials say that they will not issue documents of a joint investment agreement with the US until the additional charges on Japanese goods are removed by changing the President’s order.
